Okay, I’ll admit it. I wasn’t looking forward to Google+ receiving games despite the promise of it not interrupting non gamers. Today Google released the games side of Google Plus, today Google changed my mind.
The feature has been well executed it seems and in a very stylish way. Current Google+ users will now notice a gaming directional pad button towards the top of their page which leads to the main games page. Here users are presented with a pretty impressive games slider showing featured games of which there are now ten (with 16 games in total). The whole interface is very simple for the newest of gamers to pick up and play, while a games stream is located towards the bottom of the page which I imagine will be used to update us of our friends’ gaming pursuits.
The Eagle has Landed
The choice of games has surprised me more than anything though. It seems that they have selected a suitable game for each demographic including the famous “Angry Birds” and “Zynga Poker” originally used on Facebook. The full games list so far includes:
- Dragons of Atlantis
- Angry Birds (Yeaaah!)
- Zombie Lane
- Diamond Dash
- Flood-It!
- City of Wonder
- Monster World
- Wild Ones
- Zynga Poker
- Crime City (Cough)
- Bejeweled Blitz Beta
- Dragon Age Legends
- Bubble Island
- Sudoku Puzzles
- Collapse! Blast
- Edgeworld
